Many potters have a 'maker's mark', inspired by the name-stamp of Japanese artists, I think, although of course Wedgewood and other manufacturers had them too. Mine is often invisible under volcanic glazes on the base of the pot. I sometimes use it now on the side of pots, too. It reminds me of Conwy Castle, where I grew up.
